14 Months

Dear Ayla,

What a busy month it has been, You settled really well into daycare, in fact, when mommy comes to get you, you don't want to leave. This makes me both happy and sad. I am happy that you love it there, but a bit sad that you don't want to come home with mommy. You have made some great friends there and they really seem to enjoy you and you enjoy playing with them too. You are also learning so much there. I love seeing all the art projects that you make there. You are starting to babble more, but mostly we get Bah, Nah and a whine when you dont get what you want. One day I will get a mama.

Stats:

Weight: 16lbs 5oz
Height: 27.70 inches

You are really enjoying your new found freedom now that you are mobile. You are into everything!!! You love playing in the Tupperware drawer, opening all the other drawers and taking all the stickers out of the bottom desk drawer. You also love walking into the pantry and bringing things out that you might want to eat - that's a neat trick! Here is a cute picture of you and daddy walking in the hallway!

This month we went to Olek's birthday. We had a great time celebrating with him and seeing friends. Once again you were obsessed with the balloons and spent a good part of the afternoon chasing them. you also really enjoyed sharing food with all your friends.

You are still loving gymnastics, but we seem to be missing a lot of classes for different reasons. You LOVE walking into the foam pit and sliding down the slide. Hopefully we will be able to make more classes soon, as it is really helping your walking skills.

You have found the door between the living and dining room and you think its such a fun game to open and close it. Its "funny" when you close it and then you are stuck on the other side. You bang on the glass until mommy or daddy comes and rescues you.

You love to explore new things, like diaper boxes. Here are some pics of you playing inside.

Mabel celebrated her 2nd birthday with a pancake breakfast. You had such a great time hanging out with your friends and showing everyone your new skill; walking. Lots of people commented on the fact that you look too little to be walking, but you aren't! You are just the right size, even if your outfit (thank you Phaedra) is 3-6 month size.

You are such a happy kid and you just love playing and hanging out with us and the cats. Maukie loves to lick your head when you put it near her and you love to cuddle with her. One of your new favourite "toys" is the remote. You try and grab which ever one you can, whenever you can. This month, you also learned the "cheese" face. You give whoever is watching the cheesiest smile - its awesome!!

While you hate wearing your hats (you will tolerate them when you are actually outside), you love playing with daddy's.

You are still a great eater (yeah) and food tastes better when it comes right off of mommy's plate, like this bacon! You came right up and stole it off my plate. Good thing mommy doesn't mind sharing.

The weather was all over this place this month, good thing you are prepared for everything. Safta brought you back this rain jacket from Toronto, you are all bundled up on a cold morning walk and Leigh bought you this cute outfit for your birthday.

You LOVE hanging out at the dishwasher. You like to take things out and hand them to mommy and its so much fun to bang on the door. Its a good thing you are light, because you often climb inside. Hopefully as you get older you will keep enjoying helping to do the chores.

Your cousin Teah had her Bat Mitzvah and you got all dressed up for your first synagogue visit, You and I spent most of our time in the playroom playing with the kitchen. You even brought some of the toy food with you when it was time for lunch. You had so much fun running around with all the "big kids". you didn't get the memo that you are small still.

Here you are all dressed up for your 14 month picture. Luckily mommy got this 1 picture before you rolled off the mat at walked away.

Love you Peanut!

13 Months

Dear Ayla,

Its crazy to think that you are over a year old. This has been a very busy, fun filled month! Its so exciting to watch you grow and learn. This month you met a HUGE milestone, walking!!! Daddy and I are so proud of you! We both thought for sure that it would happen sooner, but you are on your own schedule!!!

Stats:

Weight 15 lbs 13 oz

Length: 27.5"

You have settled very well into daycare, and made some new friends there. Every morning you and Sam have breakfast together, a highlight for both of you. You like daycare so much, that some days you get mad when we have to leave. From what I have been told, you are become "partners in crime" with Kira on the days she is there. We are so happy that you are happy at daycare.

We had your kid party at Cartwheels early on in the month. Daddy and I were worried that it wasn't going to go well as you didn't nap well at all that day. You were such a trooper and had so much fun playing with your friends for the 2 hours we were there. Brittany LOVED being one of the coaches for your party and you and your friends had so much fun!

One not raining day, daddy and I decided to take you to the pumpkin patch, You were going to be going there with daycare, but mommy wanted pictures. We bundled you up and off we went with Mabel. You enjoyed looking around and checking things out, but you didn't like being on the wet ground, It was ok if it was dry, but any wet or muddy spot, you got upset! We didnt get a pumpkin, You got one with daycare, but we did enjoy our day checking things out,

Saba and Safta and daddy have been teaching you a Hebrew song that ends with hands on your head. You have now mastered it, clapping and all, and LOVE doing it, especially at dinner time. This usually ends up with lots of food in your hair - good thing bath time is pretty quick after dinner :)

A big highlight this month was Halloween! Erika had all the baby friends over for a brunch on October 25th, to show off the cute costumes. You loved being in your costume, and showing it to everyone, but you and your friends are so active now that its tough to get a group picture! I also missed a picture when Jillian decided to wear your "Aylagator" jacket with her zebra costume - it was super cute!

You had a great time wearing your costume to gymnastics. It didn't last long on your body as it was hard for you to move in and it was hot! Everyone loved it and all the older girls made such a fuss over you, which you love! Uncle Shaun and Auntie Sarah bought you a cute pumpkin onesie that got some use as it was cooler.

Your friend Asher also turned 1 this month and we had a great time at his monster themed party. You had a lot of fun playing with him and some of your other friends. You also seem to really love balloons! Luckily Asher had lots to keep you entertained! We all decided that the picture on the right is going to be your "life" for the next few years. We decided that you were causing trouble and then going to blame other because you are cute and little and can get away with it! We are going to be in trouble with you I think!

The BIGGEST change this month was that you finally walked alone!! YEAH!! You had been cruising with walkers and furniture for months and you finally decided to let go! No surprise to us, you learned very quickly how to walk alone!

This was Oct 27

And just 1 day later - look at you go!!!!

And 2 more days - look how stable you are!!!

Halloween was a super busy day! You had a blast at daycare in your costume and then on the way home we stopped and visited with Kate, the cat. You 2 haven't been spending as much time together as you used to and you both enjoyed seeing each other. You 2 sat on the bench and explored with the pumpkins for quite a while.

When daddy got home from work, we went to Jillian's to go trick-or-treating. We stopped at 5 or 6 houses and you just enjoyed waving to the people. Jillian loved getting candy! You 2 enjoyed holding hands walking between the houses.

Grandma and grandpa came to visit and we decided to take you to White Spot for your first Pirate Pack; a right of passage for any BC child! You enjoyed your macaroni and cheese with steamed broccoli and carrots.

Now that you are walking, you are doing better at your class at Cartwheels. Here is my favourite funny video! You did this over and over again and giggled every time you did!

We stopped taking weekly pictures, but here you are for your monthly one - happy and posing for mommy!
