15 months

Dear Ayla,

What a crazy month it has been! Over night you seem to have matured! Daddy and I are very amazed by your comprehension skills this month. You really seem to "get it". We can ask you to bring us things (like boots, jackets and a diaper) and you know exactly where to go to get them and bring them to us. Your babble is becoming even more deliberate, but you still don't have many words, but you can say "hi", "bye" and you have also added "bwee" to your vocabulary. You have also started blowing kisses and waving bye bye a lot.

At daycare you can also find out own slippers in the morning and you know where to put your boots, hat and jacket. At home you like to help unpack the dishwasher and you take things to their right spots; its impressive!

Stats:

Weight: 16lbs 12 oz
Height: 28.75"

After seeing how much you loved the kitchens at the synagogue last month, mommy found a great deal on one on the shop and swap for you. You LOVE it! When I brought it in the house, your eyes lit up and you were so excited to start playing with it. Right away you started opening up the doors and "cooking" for us.

A huge skill that you are working on this month is feeding yourself using a spoon or fork. You don't like anyone to help you, and it often ended up all over the floor, you or mommy. Most days you are ok with mommy putting the food on the fork and then giving it to, but other days, not so much!

You still love daycare, in fact most days when I come and get you, you dont want to leave. This is better than the other way around, but I would like you to love coming home with mommy. Below is a picture of you with your friend Lucy. Daycare had a party to celebrate Christmas and the opening of their new location and Christmas. There was a Santa there who had a present for you; but you took one look at him and started screaming and dug in your heals! You did NOT want to go see him at all!

We went to many "parties" this month. You had a lot of fun at mommy's work party, you really enjoyed checking out the Christmas tree.

Here we are at Safta and Sabah's for Hanukkah. You really enjoyed eating ice out of grandma's glass. It was so funny because you would take it out of the glass, suck on it for a while and then put it back in...good thing she loves you!

We also had Christmas dinner at uncle Shaun and Autie Sarah's. Everyone was so impressed with you and how "grown up" you were since last year. Mommy had different shoes picked out for you that night, but you insisted on wearing the blue ones. You for sure have your own mind!

You are still a really good eater, always willing to try new foods. Sometimes these foods are odd...like in these pictures of a whole red pepper and a huge pile of noodles. You are figuring out more how to use a fork and a spoon. Its pretty messy, but you are getting better each meal!

Gymnastics ended for the term. Here you are at your last class and getting your first ribbon and certificate.

Cold weather and rain doesn't stop us from going on walks; here you are dressed for a rainy walk and checking out a giant snow globe on a cold evening.

This month you have really enjoyed these new toys. You LOVE playing on the guitar (like daddy) and your walker turns into a ride on car which you are still figuring out exactly how to use it.

Mommy was off work for 2 weeks and we had so much fun together. I miss mommy/Ayla time. We spent lots of time playing and visiting with friends. Mommy and daddy also sleep trained you over the break. You did really well and were sleeping all the way through the night within 3 nights. It was a long 3 nights, but we are all sleeping well now! You are still working on your wake up time - 5:45 is still too early!!!

Auntie Maya came to visit! You got to see her a few times and you loved reading stories and playing in your kitchen with her.

Your friend Asher's mom invited us over for New Year's dinner. We went and had fun playing with him and Zara. The three of you ran around, played on the toys cars and caused all kinds of trouble until around 8:30 when you decided you were done. We never made it to midnight..maybe next year!

Some friends told us about Stay and Play so we decided to check it out. Sam was there and you got so excited when you saw him. You had fun pushing each other in the cars, racing around (at Ayla speed) and trying all sorts of new toys. Later on Lilliana came with her girls. You had so much fun on the teeter-totter. In true Ayla style, the higher you were bounced, the bigger your smile became!

While we didn't have a white Christmas, we did get snow one day in early January. You enjoyed looking out the window at it. You didnt want to go outside...it was too cold.

One of your latest tricks is climbing on the ottoman. Watch out mommy - I will be climbing on everything soon!

Love you Gator!
