16 months

Dear Ayla,

It is so hard to believe that you are only 16 months old, it feels like you have been with us forever. You are so curious, observant and smart. You are able to get things that we ask (like boots, jacket, hat and diapers) and you love helping to unpack the dishwasher. The crazy thing is that you know exactly where everything goes and so far you have only broken 1 glass (you let go of it before you gave it to mommy).

Stats:

Weight: 17lbs 0 oz
Length: 29"

For the longest time, your only consistent word besides "hi" has been "na" - this month you learned a new one "dipo", which usually means diaper. You are making a bunch of new sounds, so hopefully some more words are coming soon!

We had a busy day on January 10th, first we went to meet baby Max and had breakfast at their house with all the other babied. You loved playing with all the toys, but were jealous when mommy held baby Max. He is so little, but the funny thing is that compared to you at that age, he is HUGE!

That evening we went to celebrate uncle Shaun's 40th birthday. You had a great time running around and playing, even though the big kids were playing a bit rough. You wanted to get right in there and join them. Everyone thought it was so funny how you do "cheese" for the camera.

While you love grocery shopping, sometimes its hit or miss about you enjoying being in the cart. On one of trips, you so wanted to be out that we let you push the cart for us...that trip took so long, but you were happy so it was worth it!

Mommy took you to go and see the dentist. You did a pretty good job and only screamed for a second when she tried to hold you down. You let her look in your mouth and examine your teeth. Good thing she was quick!!!

Sabah and Safta had bought you a harmonica a long time ago and you love when mom and dad played it for you, but you finally figured out how to make music on your own,

You are LOVING playing in the bath and making a huge splashy mess!! Here are a few videos of you having a blast in the tub!

Your walking skills are getting so much better, you are even "running" at times. At daycare you walk the whole way around the park before playing on the playground - that's a long way! One night daddy went for a run, so we decided to join him, you had a great time!

We have missed a lot of gymnastics classes again because it doesn't always work out with your nap schedule. You love being there, but sleep is also important!

Here is a video of you "jumping"

You are becoming such a "big" girl! You want to sit at the regular table at daycare and some days you want to eat in your high chair at home (even though it isn't the best fit still). You love to do everything you can by yourself, including helping yourself to snacks out of the pantry.

The weather has been so nice, so we have tried to get out to the park as much as possible and enjoy it. You LOVE taking off you hat and gloves, but then you "complain" that you are cold. I cant win!

On Super bowl Sunday we went to Hugh's house again. Although Seattle lost in the last minute, you still had a great time playing with the other kids there.

It has been a great month, cant wait to see what new things you learn next month!

Love you Gator!

Mama
