18 months

Dear Ayla,

Time is just flying by and I can't believe that you are 18 months already. In so many ways it feels like you have been part of our family forever and in some many ways the months have flown by.  You are going through an interesting stage right now where you want to do everything on your own, but you aren't quite there yet, so there have been lots of melt downs this month. Mommy and daddy are working on being patient with you.

Stats:

Weight: 17 lbs 8oz (April 13)
Height: 29.75"

Mommy was on spring break at the beginning of March, so we hung out a lot, You still went to daycare most days, but you slept in, walked to daycare and mommy picked you up early. You went on 2 field trips with daycare, one to ride a train and one to a pet store. Mommy came to the pet store, which was good as the you were unsure of the animals there. You are still uncertain about things that move!

One Saturday, uncle Shaun, auntie Sarah and cousin Sophia watched you for the afternoon while mommy and daddy went out with Sabah and Safta. You had so much fun and Sophia really enjoyed spending time with you at the park.

You had a super busy day on March 14th - you had 2 birthday parties! In the morning we went and had breakfast with Jillian and in the afternoon we went and celebrated with Mason (from daycare). you had so much fun at both parties!

We had another sad day at daycare with Kathy leaving this month. Kathy taught you so many new things and was always so wonderful with you. Mommy was very sad when she left as she was a great first teacher for you.

You are speaking so much more this month. You are copying lots of what we are saying to you and know know lots of words and their meaning such as:

Mommy
Daddy
Aya (when asked your name)
Turtle
Yellow
Purple
Bubbles
Leo (cat)
Bella (neighbour's cat)
Cracker
Pouch
Puffy
Horse
Sky
Bath
Cat
Ducky
Ball
Boots
Jacket
Car
Bus
Toes
Belly
Towel
Book
Apple
Happy
Uh-oh
Boo!

You also know the names of your friends at daycare.

You have also started singing a lot, both with us and on your own, You sing:

Old McDonald (EIEIO)
Ba Ba Black sheep
ABC's
Wheels on the bus

Although you are tiny, you have a BIG appetite. Here are you are enjoying some delicious treats - many of which were stolen from mommy's plate!  You enjoy most foods - we even learned this month that you like beets!

You are such a big girl now that you insist on going on the big swings at the park. You can't go as high as on the other swings, but you still seem to love it. You are also getting very good at climbing both the stairs and the ladder to get to the slide. You have really good balance at the top of the slide when getting yourself into a seated position.

You have discovered that Maukie can be fun to play with; she enjoys the bubbles almost as much as you. Luckily Maukie is super tolerant of you climbing all over her...Leo, not so much!

It was daddy's 40th birthday, and even though you weren't feeling well, we still had a great night with him. You coloured him a beautiful card and we had cake! We are taking him to Whistler soon to celebrate even more.

We celebrated your second passover this year. It was different not having Grandma or Sabah there. You and Sophia did a great job finding the afikoman and you even scored $20!

You are so much fun to hang out with, here are a few more pics from the month! We even went to 'stay and play' with Sam one day!

Happy 18 months Peanut!

Love you Gator!!

Mama
